Dow Chemical & Junior Achievement help Clute Intermediate students explore the economics of staying in school
When you were 13 did you know what career path you would take, how to prepare financially for your future or the economics of staying in school?
Thanks to a collaborative effort between Brazosport ISD, The Dow Chemical Company and Junior Achievement the 7th grade students at Clute Intermediate recently got that opportunity.
The Dow Chemical Company provided funding and many volunteers to go into the classrooms to help students explore personal finance, education and career options based on their own individual skills, interests and values.
Volunteers from Experience Works, Fattig’s Office Universe, TDECU and the Workforce Solutions joined Dow volunteers to guide students through colorful, hands-on games and activities to show the economic benefits of staying in school, how to make good choices that will impact their futures and how to become productive members of society.
Thanks to a Dow grant the same program will be taking place from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Lanier Middle School in Freeport on Thursday, May 27th. Call the JA office at 549-0800 to see how you can get involved. All materials and training are provided; we just need concerned citizens willing to help the kids.
